Cytopathological categorization of salivary gland lesions according to milan system of classification: Our experience in a tertiary care centre of North-East India

: Fine needle aspiration cytology is a widely accepted pre-operative procedure for salivary gland lesions. The aim of this study to evaluate the lesions in relation age, sex, location and prevalence non-neoplastic neoplastic that presented Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH), Guwahati, A retrospective was done over period 2 years, from January,2019 December,2020 slides data 110 cases underwent FNAC our hospital(GMCH) were reviewed. Out total cytological smears, 101 smears (91.9%) adequate 9 (8.1%) inadequate. 35 (34.6%) lesions, 37 (36.6%) benign 29 (28.7%) malignant Males more commonly affected (M:F=1.6:1). Parotid most anatomical site. Most common lesion Pleomorphic Adenoma Mucoepidermoid carcinoma malignancy. very reliable, cost-effective, safe rapid diagnostic tool categorizing which complimentary histopathology. Though histopathological examination remains gold standard diagnosis, an useful adjunct planning patient management.
